[ Reading Dimitri's message, Dorothea thinks--not for the first time--that things could have turned out so differently if the house leaders had been able to trust one another enough in their youth to to open up about their hopes and hardships. It's not worth dwelling on, she knows; that isn't what happened, and there's no way to change it. Still, since there are obviously different version of their own world, it's easy to wish for one where a peaceful resolution was found, rather than five bloody years of war. ]
I'm glad we're in agreement. I think you're right, too, about having a lot to learn--about ourselves as much as each other, wouldn't you say?
And so far as Felix is concerned, I think your concern is unwarranted. He just invited me to spar with him, which I believe is Felix code for respect or admiration. That or he's flirting with me, I honestly can't tell. But, suffice to say, I believe I have him in hand at this juncture.
[ Regarding learning about themselves, that is. But when it comes to Felix... hmm. He's not sure he'd say sparring is an attempt at romance-- because Felix has invited him to spar plenty of times before and surely Dorothea is much more worthy of being flirted with than him-- but hey! Dimitri once gave a dagger to the girl he liked, so who is he to talk about appropriate displays of affection!! ]
As for Felix, I can at least say with certainty this is how he reaches out to people. He would not waste his time sparring with someone he did not deem worthy. I have to admit, that does put me more at ease.
[ Don't put yourself down, Dimitri. You're very flirtworthy, okay? Not that Dorothea's going to give him that kind of talk without, y'know, getting to know him much better, but still. Believe in yourself. ]
I'm glad to hear it. Honestly, there's no need for you to worry. Even if we had a tiff every now and then, I know how to handle men that are too big for their britches. I'd rather not be at odds with anyone from home in a place like this, though. We're all in the same boat now, so to speak.
